The three-day Dr. Mrs. YGP Centenary Annual Festival of Music and Dance commenced on Saturday at the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Senior Secondary School in K.K. Nagar, organized by the Padma Seshadri Academy for Dance, Heritage, and Music. The event was inaugurated by industrialist Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetti, who shared his long-standing relationship with theatre figure Y.G. Parthasarathi and educationist Mrs. YGP, both of whom have been significant supporters of the arts in Chennai.
Musician Anil Srinivasan emphasized the importance of integrating classical arts into education, noting that while the impact may not be immediate, it is deeply significant over time. Additionally, Sheela Rajendra, the dean and director of PSBB School, and renowned violinist Lalgudi G.J.R. Krishnan, who is also an alumnus of the school, contributed their insights during the inauguration. The festival aims to celebrate and promote the rich heritage of music and dance.
