A 58-year-old biology teacher, Lal Mohan Singh, who was serving as a booth level officer (BLO) for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, passed away at his home in Nehru Nagar, Modinagar. According to district administration officials, Singh reportedly died from a brain hemorrhage. The principal of Modi Science and Commerce Inter College, where Singh taught, stated that he had been feeling unwell and was under significant pressure due to the door-to-door verification tasks he was assigned.

The principal expressed concerns about the stress Singh faced, noting that the administration had insisted that the verification work must be completed without fail. Singh had been tasked with duties in the Sahibabad Assembly constituency as part of the electoral roll revision process, which has been ongoing since early November.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Amit Saxena confirmed that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Modinagar reported Singh’s death due to a brain hemorrhage and is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The situation has raised alarms, as there have been multiple reports of suicides and deaths among BLOs and other officials involved in the SIR, attributed to overwork, stress, and harassment during the electoral exercise.
